About the Office for the Arts

The Office for the Arts (OFTA) is the Australian Government’s arts and culture policy and funding body.

On Monday 12 December 2012 the Prime Minister announced a number of changes to the Ministry and government portfolios. The Office for Sport and Office for the Arts will merge with the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government.

The new Department will be known as the Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport. The transition of Office for the Arts to the new department will be completed in the coming weeks.
