The Hon Simon Crean MP was appointed Australian Government Minister for Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government, and Minister for the Arts on 14 September 2010.

Mr Crean’s portfolio brings together regional Australia and the arts, and he supports projects and events that help revitalise rural areas and strengthen regional identity.

The longest-serving Cabinet Minister in the Gillard Government, Mr Crean has a passion for opera and ballet.
