CTI Eligibility Guide, Program Guidelines & Funding Agreement

In September 2008, the Minister for the Arts broadened the scope of the Contemporary Touring Initiative (CTI) Program Guidelines to allow more Australian Collecting Institutions and other eligible Organisations to apply for funding under this unique program with the aim of providing even wider audience access to contemporary Australian visual arts and craft.

The CTI Program is part of the Australian Government's ongoing commitment to contemporary Australian visual arts and craft and aims to encourage wider audience access to Australian visual arts and craft through quality publications, education and public programs that are a part of touring exhibitions. It also encourages Collecting Institutions to form curatorial partnerships and collaborate with other organisations contributing to mentoring opportunities and skills transfer.

The broadened scope of the CTI Program Guidelines will allow both Collecting Institutions—defined as an 'Australian national, state or territory institution committed to the collection and exhibition of contemporary Australian visual arts and craft' AND Organisations—defined as 'incorporated not-for-profit Australian organisations with demonstrated experience in developing and touring exhibitions of visual arts and craft material', to apply for CTI funding.

The material in a CTI funded exhibition must be Contemporary Australian visual arts and craft, that is, 'contemporary creative work, predominantly by emerging and significant Australian visual artists and craft practitioners who are alive at the time the Funding is approved’.

The CTI Program Guidelines and Eligibility Guide may be accessed on the Visions of Australia website at www.arts.gov.au/visions.

The CTI Program is increasing the viability and vitality of Australia's contemporary visual arts and craft sector and making a real difference to the sustainability and productivity of the cultural sector into the future. Creativity and excellence, linked with public appreciation across all Australian jurisdictions, and informed critical debate are some of the key outcomes of the CTI.

Collecting Institutions and eligible Organisations are strongly encouraged to apply for funding under this innovative Program. For additional information please contact the CTI Program Manager on: 02-6275 9519.
