Forms and guidelines: applications, variations, acquittals and copyright agreements

What can I apply for?

Funds are available to present exciting new projects which will add to the cultural program of a regular, ongoing festival or a significant one-off community celebration.

Funds are not available for projects such as competitions, capital works (e.g. the construction of buildings, or the purchase of equipment) or the ongoing costs of running the festival.

Assistance is provided in the form of direct funding, subject to a formal Funding Agreement.

You cannot receive funding from Festivals Australia, the Regional Arts Fund or the Indigenous Cultural Support Program for the same project or the same event at a festival.

Variations, acquittals and copyright agreements

Any proposed variation to a successful application must be approved by the Festivals Australia Committee. The following Variation Form must be completed and returned to the Department prior to the variation taking place. Formal notification of the variation approval must be received from the Department before changes can be undertaken.

In order to meet all contractual obligations, successful applicants have three months from the end date of their festival to acquit their funded project by completing the Activity Report and Acquittal Form provided below.

Please note, failure to provide a completed acquittal may result in future applications being deemed ineligible. Acquittals not submitted on time will also be taken into account in considering future applications.

If you are preparing an application, please look at profiles and pictures of successful projects on this website. It provides examples of the diverse range of projects funded, help on how to explain what your project aims to do, and on how to summarise in the acquittal what your project achieved.

By completing the Copyright License Agreement you are giving permission to the Department to reproduce the images of your Festivals that you have provided in Departmental and Festivals Australia promotional material. Ownership of the images remains the sole custody of whoever took them.

You are strongly encouraged to discuss your project with the Festivals Australia Program Officer by phoning 02 6275 9554, 02 6275 9551 or freecall 1800 819 461, before submitting an application.
