Collections Australia Network
The Collections Australia Network (CAN) is an online resource for, and gateway to, Australia 's collecting institutions and their collections. It provides links between galleries, libraries, archives and museums across Australia.
The network is a collaborative initiative of the Cultural Ministers Council and is jointly supported by the Australian and state and territory governments.
The CAN is the result of a redevelopment and a name change of the Australian Museums and Galleries Online (AMOL) website. The redeveloped website (www.collectionsaustralia.net) provides the technical infrastructure to enable small to medium-sized collection institutions to participate in the online environment easily and in a cost-effective way.
The CAN also supports the collections sector by providing institutions with access to a range of online services and resources that can assist in the promotion, management, care and conservation of their collections.
The website is managed by the CAN Coordination Unit located at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.
