National Arts and Crafts Industry Support (NACIS) program funding recipients
NACIS aims to assist Indigenous art centres to become stronger and to build a more sustainable Indigenous visual arts industry through investment in art centres and arts support organisations. NACIS plays a direct role in supporting professional arts practice, community art activities, business management and governance, and employment and training at the community level.
In 2009, the Australian Government announced its commitment to increase its funding to the Indigenous visual arts sector through additional funding to the NACIS program of $9.3m over four years from 2009-10. This additional funding improves the program’s capacity and complements the government’s broad range of commitments to the Indigenous visual arts sector.
The Department assessed 115 applications seeking $17.2 million in funding through the 2009-10 NACIS round, in accordance with the program guidelines. A total of 86 activities have been supported with funding of $9.7 million, which includes 13 organisations receiving triennial funding.
NACIS is a nationally competitive program which is administered as part of the whole of government Indigenous funding round by the Australian Government.
