Indigenous Remote Radio Replacement Program
Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Services are an important resource in many Indigenous communities. Their broadcasts are support cultural communication within and between communities and traditional language, culture and community cohesion. These services are also a vital conduit for important health, education and community services.
The Indigenous Remote Radio Replacement Program aims to improve the standard of broadcasting by our Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Services by replacing obsolete equipment.
The Australian government is providing $3.3 million over three years to 2008–09 to replace old and unreliable radio studio and transmission equipment for the community radio services being provided by the Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Services.
The Community Broadcasting Foundation an independent not-for-profit funding agency, has been contracted to manage the program’s rollout.
