Report on Parliamentary Inquiry into Indigenous Arts Industry
In June 2007 the Senate released the report of its inquiry into Australia’s Indigenous visual arts and craft sector which examines and makes recommendations on strategies and mechanisms to strengthen the sector.
The inquiry commenced in August 2006 and was conducted by the Senate Environment, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts Legislation Committee.
The Australian Government currently provides support to the Indigenous visual arts industry through a number of initiatives, including the National Arts and Crafts Industry Support program that supports the operations of Indigenous art centres around the country.
