Search
Searching for information on the Arts website is fast and comprehensive.
The quick search option sits at the top right-hand corner of every page. You can either specify the section you want to search, by selecting the category from the drop down list, or leave the default on ‘All categories’ to search the entire site. Just type your keyword and press the 'Go' button. The results will be sorted by relevanc.
Navigation
The site has three navigation features to help you find what you need.
Main navigation
On the left side of every web page, with a grey background, is the main navigation menu. This will display web pages that are three levels deep under the main subject categories for programs, policies and related activities from DEWHA.
Clicking on a top-level navigation item takes you to a list of options for that subject area and also opens a summary of those links in the main navigation menu.
As you proceed through to the next levels (and as long as you remain in a particular subject category) you can easily see where you are in relation to other pages in that section because the links for the current page and those above it will be bolded in the left hand menu.
If you follow a link on a page that takes you to another subject category then the bolded links in the main navigation menu will show where you are in that category.
Breadcrumbs
Immediately under the top navigation bar on every web page are breadcrumbs that show the location of the page you are viewing in the hierarchy of its category.
To return the previous page you were viewing, click on the 'Back' button in your browser or use one of the three the navigation tools to go directly to the page you want.
Right side menus
On the right-hand side of most pages, with a grey background, you will find links to documents or other web pages providing further information relevant to that page. Where appropriate, there are contact details for the particular activity described.
Footer
At the bottom of each page you will find legal information regarding copyright, privacy and disclaimer, as well as links to feedback, contact us and pages.
Keeping track of where you have been
In the content area in the centre of each page links are indicated by the combination of underlining and blue text. Clicking on a link will change its colour from blue to red to show that you have already visited it.
Icons on each link tell you what to expect:
a Word Document
a Portable Document Format (PDF)
an image file
an archived webpage or document
a file, including Rich Text Format (RTF)
a link to a website external to arts.gov.au
a compressed or ‘zipped’ file
