The Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) is celebrating 60 years of providing professional leadership and inspiration to talented young Australians who aspire to careers in performing arts.
Since their first appearance at the Sydney Town Hall in 1957, more than 8,000 young musicians have participated in AYO training programs, their orchestras have toured internationally 23 times, and 65 per cent of Australia’s professional orchestral musicians are alumni.
The AYO provides a range of elite training programs for Australian musicians, composers, arts administrators and music journalists to expand and extend their classical music education training and experience.
