The program funds high-quality arts and cultural heritage projects that give community members living in regional or remote Australia the chance to participate in or attend an arts experience at a festival, or a significant one-off community celebration.

Applications for this round close on Friday 20 October.

Can I apply for more than one project?

Yes, but you will need to submit separate applications for each project.

Do you fund whole festivals?

No. Festivals Australia only funds a specific project (‘single discrete activity’) happening within a festival or significant community celebration, not the entire event.

What type of activities are eligible for funding?

Examples of activities that you can apply for include (but are not limited to):

  • Costs related to the appearance of a particular artist or group at a festival, such as artist fees and domestic travel;
  • A workshop or series of workshops targeted at a specific group of participants that includes costs such as venue hire, materials and presenter fees;
  • A specific work of public art that forms one part of a broader schedule of activities for a community celebration, including costs such as materials and artist fees; or
  • Equipment hire for a concert or performance that is one component of a broader festival or significant community celebration.

How can I make my application stand out?

Tell us how your project is one of many things happening at your festival or community event. It’s also important to make sure the ‘festival description’ is different to your ‘project description’. If they are the same, it will be hard for the assessors to see how your project differs from the broader festival or community celebration.
