The funding is provided through the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach (NCITO) program, which assists national collecting institutions to bring arts and culture experiences to audiences in regional and remote Australia.

Exhibitions set to tour in 2018-19 include:

  • Happy Birthday Play School: Celebrating 50 Years!, National Museum of Australia
  • Arthur Boyd: Landscape of the Soul, Bundanon Trust
  • The National Picture: The art of Tasmania’s Black War and The Ned Kelly Series, National Gallery of Australia
  • George French Angus, National Library of Australia

Projects under development include an exhibition highlighting Australia’s history of political cartooning, and an exhibition to celebrate Captain Cook’s contribution to science, navigation and the Pacific.

Since the program began in 2009, the Government has provided $10 million to support the development and touring of 125 exhibitions to regional areas.
