The expertly crafted Hannah Cabinet, which took more than six years to create, will be on permanent display for all Australians at the Lismore Regional Gallery.
The cabinet was made by Lismore-based master craftsman Mr Geoff Hannah OAM, whose work is held in private and official collections around the world, including Government House in Canberra, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Coach.
The Australian Government will provide $360,000 to support the purchase of the unique Australian-made timber cabinet, which complements funding provided by the New South Wales State Government and public donations.
Mr Hannah OAM studied at the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He is a renowned teacher of his craft and was awarded the Order of Australia in 2018 for service to the visual arts through the production of furniture and marquetry.
