Each year the dedicated students of the Australian Ballet School stage an impressive performance that brings together the aesthetics and precision of ballet with the passion and flair of Australia’s best emerging talent. This year’s Showcase 2018 is no different – promoted as an ‘enthralling journey through the traditional and the new’.
The students will stage gala performances on 9 September in Melbourne’s State Theatre and 22 September in the Canberra Theatre Centre.
The Ballet School is one of Australia’s national elite training organisations. It attracts the highest calibre of students and teachers.
‘The Gala brings together the ex-professionals who know so much about this career and us, the aspiring students, that we can both share our knowledge and become better for it,’ said Thomas McClintock, a fifth year student.
‘Ballet has a way of inducing in you the extremes of passion. But it's been a great honour to be here, to be taught by so many amazing teachers and to create so many great new friends.’
Our video shows why so many graduates go on to professional careers with the Australian Ballet and other prestigious dance companies all around the world.
