About The Program

The Government has decided to transfer the majority of funds previously allocated to Catalyst to the Australia Council. A total of $80.2 million over four years will be transferred from 2017-18. All existing Catalyst funding agreements will be honoured and those with payments scheduled in 2017-18 and beyond will be transferred to the Australia Council in the coming months.

Catalyst has successfully supported a broad range of arts projects, especially those by small to medium arts organisations.

The Department of Communications and the Arts will retain some funds ($2 million a year) to ensure that organisations not receiving funding from the Australia Council can still seek support, such as galleries, libraries, archives and museums and some regional and community, education and health organisations. Guidelines for this funding are currently being developed and will be available here soon. The revised guidelines will be ready for the 2017-18 financial year.
