The newly appointed Expert Panels and Policy Advisory Group will work together to support the National Cultural Policy public consultation process and guide the overarching direction of the policy. The appointees will bring valuable industry expertise and lived experience to the table and help to develop a policy for all Australians.

Each Expert Panel is made up of 3 members and represents a wide cross-section of the creative and cultural sector. The panels align with the pillars first set out in Revive: A place for every story, a story for every place:

  1. First Nations First
  2. Centrality of the Artist
  3. A Place for Every Story
  4. Strong Cultural Infrastructure
  5. Engaging the Audience.

The Expert Panels will review public consultation submissions and use their lived experience and specialist knowledge to inform the Minister for the Arts and the Policy Advisory Group on key issues and themes related to their pillar.

The Policy Advisory Group, consisting of 9 members, will review the reports from the Expert Panels and consider the outcomes of the national public consultation. They will provide consolidated advice, industry perspective and strategic guidance to the Minister on key sector challenges and opportunities.

The consultation closes at 11.59pm (AEST) on Sunday 24 May.
