Cultural Data Online provides access to a broad range of research relating to arts and culture in Australia, including publications and links to data on employment, funding, participation and attendance at cultural venues and events, and tourism.

Cultural Data Online is an initiative of the Meeting of Cultural Ministers Statistics Working Group, which manages a national program of cultural data collection, research and analysis, funded collaboratively by the Australian, state and territory governments through the Meeting of Cultural Ministers.

The Meeting of Cultural Ministers Statistics Working Group aims to improve policy and decision-making in cultural industries and government by enhancing the quality, range and availability of relevant cultural statistics.

On this page you will find statistical reports commissioned by the Statistics Working Group and links to statistical reports published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The Australian Government, on behalf of the Meeting of Cultural Ministers, has a Memorandum of Understanding with the ABS for collections of data related to Attendance and Participation and Cultural Funding by Government.

You can find reports on Cultural Funding by Government from 2000 to 2010, and from 2015–16 forward under Statistics Working Group Publications. Reports on Cultural Funding by Government between 2010 and 2013 are available from the ABS.

The ABS also publishes data on attendance and participation, the economic contribution of arts and culture, and more.

On behalf of the Statistics Working Group, the ABS also prepares jurisdictional profiles that provide an overview of arts and culture at the national and state and territory level.
