37 projects will share in more than $830,000 in the first round of Regional Arts Fund Project Grants for 2023.
The latest projects to receive support through the Regional Arts Fund span many artforms including theatre, dance, film, music, visual arts, circus, opera, photography and textile art. A number of projects have a strong focus on First Nations culture and history.
The Regional Arts Fund provides essential social and economic benefits to regional and remote communities by supporting artists, art organisations and workers to increase the number of cultural activities and experiences in local communities, and generate creative partnerships and sustainable artistic practices for regional and remote artists.
Ensuring there’s a place for every story, and a story for every place, is a key pillar of the National Cultural Policy, Revive.
Around $3.7 million per year has historically been provided through the Regional Arts Fund. On 30 January 2023, the Australian Government announced an increase to the Regional Arts Fund of $8.5 million over four years as part of Revive.
The Regional Arts Fund is managed on behalf of the Australian Government by Regional Arts Australia and delivered in partnership with regional arts organisations in each state and territory.
