The landmark National Cultural Policy, now in it’s second year, is continuing to make major progress supporting Australian arts and culture.

Australia's National Cultural Policy, Revive, is marking its second anniversary with 60 actions now complete.

The past 24 months have seen a significant number of new funding initiatives and policies get underway, including:

  • Established Creative Australia to invest in arts and creativity.
  • Supported large-scale screen productions filming in Australia by increasing the Location Offset from 16.5 to 30%.
  • Supported digital games development in Australia with direct funding through Screen Australia and the Digital Games Tax Offset.
  • Enabled thousands of Australians to view National Gallery of Australia artworks through the Sharing the National Collection program, which has already loaned 195 significant works to 22 venues across the nation.
  • Started to build the foundations for equity for artists, arts workers and audiences with disability with the release of Equity: the Arts and Disability Associated Plan, with an $8.1 million investment in actions to drive change.
  • Supported the financial sustainability of 9 National Collecting Institutions with $535.3 million over 4 years from 2023–24, plus ongoing funding for the delivery of services and programs and maintenance of buildings.
  • Secured the National Arts Training Organisations with $117.2 million over 4 years from 2024–25, plus ongoing funding to support their critical role in developing Australia's most talented creatives and arts workers.
  • Introduced reciprocal arrangements with 17 countries to enable visual artists to receive a resale royalty for eligible artworks resold internationally.
  • Extended Public and Educational Lending Rights to ebooks and audiobooks and committed an additional $12.9 million over 4 years.
  • Driven Closing the Gap outcomes by increasing support for First Nations peoples to express, preserve and maintain their cultures including $52.7 million in new funding.
