We developed a national cultural policy for the next 5 years following extensive consultation.
Australia's arts, entertainment and cultural sector shaped the development of Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place. Feedback received throughout the consultation period supported us to place arts at the centre of modern Australian life, including respecting and celebrating First Nations art and culture, and recognising artists as critical workers in our economy.
The consultation period has ended. If you have any questions about other ways to share your views, please email culturalpolicy@arts.gov.au.
The consultation informed the development of the National Cultural Policy, Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place.
The consultation period has now ended.
On 30 January 2023, the Australian Government published the National Cultural Policy, Revive: a place for every story, a story for every place.
Revive is a 5-year plan to renew and revive Australia’s arts, entertainment and cultural sector, following the most difficult period for the sector in generations. It delivers new momentum so that Australia’s creative workers, organisations and audiences continue to thrive and grow.
Town hall events were held across the country during July and August 2022 for stakeholders and community members to provide their perspectives and feedback to inform the policy. We also received many diverse views through public submissions, which have been published on this website.
The consultation period has ended. If you have any questions about other ways to share your views, please email culturalpolicy@arts.gov.au.
You can also hear more about the process of developing Revive from the Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for the Arts, who spoke at the August 2022 town hall event in Perth.
Our starting point for developing the new National Cultural Policy was Creative Australia, the national cultural policy launched by Prime Minister Julia Gillard in 2013.
The following submissions have been produced by third parties and may not meet WCAG 2.0 requirements. If you require an accessible copy, please email culturalpolicy@arts.gov.au.
Please note: We received over 1200 submissions to this consultation. More than 200 submissions were made privately and have not been published.
