$1 million from the National Collecting Institutions Touring and Outreach Program will support new exhibitions to hit the road.

The program provides annual funding for our national collecting institutions to develop and tour their exhibitions, allowing new audiences to experience more Australian stories.

The 2025−26 round will enable 8 institutions to tour exhibitions to 24 venues, including exhibitions that are being developed or are touring for the first time, and one exhibition touring internationally.

Recipients include:

  • Museum of Australian Democracy – Behind the Lines 2025 (new)
    An annual exhibition that showcases the best Australian political cartoons from the year, and includes historical political cartoons from the museum’s collection.
  • National Archives of Australia – In Real Life: Inventors, Innovators and Opportunists (new)
    Celebrating the objects and inventions that have shaped Australian lives for over a century, this exhibition will draw on the significant design, patent and trademark records held by the Archives.  
  • National Film and Sound Archive of Australia – Fighting Spirit: The Art of Boxing (new)
    Tells the story of boxing in Australia through art and screen and captures the strength and determination of key figures in the Australian boxing world.
  • Australian National Maritime Museum – Mariw Minaral (Spiritual Patterns)
    An exhibition of sculptural and printed works by Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islands) artist Alick Tipoti, guided by the traditional cultural practices of his people.
