The Indigenous Art Code (the Code) is under review for the first time since it was established in 2010.
The review is a commitment in the National Cultural Policy, Revive, and is being conducted by First Nations-led agency, Cox Inall Ridgeway.
The Code is a voluntary set of rules and guidelines that dealers commit to follow to ensure the fair and ethical treatment of First Nations artists, providing clear standards so that dealings between dealers and artists are respectful and transparent.
The review aims to strengthen the protections for First Nations artists and consumers across the country.
You can have your say by completing an online survey or providing a written submission by Friday 29 November 2024.
Your views will help Cox Inall Ridgeway to make recommendations to Government about protecting Indigenous artists' rights, the ethical trade of Indigenous art, and how to strengthen protections.
Consultation with industry stakeholders such as art market professionals and First Nations artists will also inform the review and will continue through until the end of November.
