The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts (the department) is collecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 as delegate of the Secretary of the Department under the Public and Educational Lending Rights (Better Income for Authors) Act 2026.
The department will use your personal information to administer the Lending Rights schemes including to assess your eligibility for payment under the Public Lending Right (PLR) and Educational Lending Right (ELR) schemes and to make payments to you if you are found to be eligible. The department may disclose information to the Secretary of the Department for the purpose of making recommendations to the Public and Educational Lending Rights Committee and the Minister for the Arts or their delegate concerning payments that may be made under PLR and/or ELR.
The department will not otherwise use or disclose your personal information except as authorised by law.
You are not compelled by law to provide your personal information, however if you don't then we may not be able to process your claim for Lending Rights payments.
