Arts and cultural heritage organisations are invited to apply for funding to develop and tour exhibitions under Round 23 of the Visions of Australia program.

The Visions program has supported over 140 projects in the last decade. This has provided access to arts and cultural material for Australians across the country and assisted artists to gain national recognition.

A wide range of exhibitions have previously been supported by the program, including:

  • Museums and Gallery Services Queensland: Veiled Histories (Round 21) works by leading First Nations artists Jennifer Herd (MBarbarum) and Joanne Currie Nalingu (Gungurri) from 1983 to present, exploring themes of identity, history and resilience. The exhibition reflected the artists’ lived experiences on the edges of towns and cities and traditions lost, revived and shared.
  • Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) – Play School: Come and Play! (Round 22) – an immersive exhibition celebrating learning through play with music, interactive games, creating and storytelling.
  • National Gallery of Australia – Richard Lewer: Steve (Round 22)a touring exhibition that explored a family coming to terms with a dementia diagnosis, including a hands-on workshop in animation and storytelling, curator-led discussions, and a 2-day Art and Dementia professional development workshop.

The Visions of Australia program aims to increase access to high-quality Australian arts and cultural exhibitions for audiences across Australia, particularly in regional and remote communities and to encourage collaboration across the collections sector through curatorial partnerships, mentoring and skills-sharing opportunities, and financial partnerships that support exhibition touring

Funding is available under 2 streams: development and touring. To be eligible for funding, tours must visit at least 3 venues outside their home state or territory and include regional and/or remote venues.

Applications for Round 23 close at 5pm (AEST) on Friday 2 October 2026.
